-would like to scan to cloud (google drive workspaces)
-reliable and good software to work with it
-not ‘too’ interested in scannning from a mobile phone, but maybe in time an ipad or something to manage the scanning

We’ve got some big MFPs we use for scanning but I’ve heard high praise for Fujitsu/ScanSnap devices. They’re fast, duplex, and I know their software can scan to cloud and such.

Going to go with this recommendation, too, get yourself a dedicated copier/MFP. You can start a lease with any of the major players if the cost of ownership is daunting…or even purchase from a vendor that offers full management so you’re not stuck with repair bills or unexpected consumables cost.

Right up until Ricoh bought out Fujitsu. We hear a lot of complaints now and you are mostly stuck buying from as they cut off the channel for the most part.

I’ve been out of the loop on that one I guess. In years past Fujitsu ScanSnap were my go to when someone asked for a recommendation.

I would go with the MFP crowd. My experience is HP and Kyocera. HP Laser MFP typically color printing/scanning less than $600. Kyocera B&W laser MFP less than $600. Both have multiple scan-to options. HP now has a dedicated Scan and Capture software that works with multiple MFPs. If you need more you can get pretty robust for under $1000.
Personally I would avoid leasing, buying is much cleaner. I haven’t seen any cost-effective or good leases. If you shop, laser printer prices are pretty good and don’t justify the extra cost and restrictions of a lease.

Keep in mind that any 400 level product, 479 or 47525 have an engine life rating of 50K for the fuser. Real life closer to 40K. And a replacement fuser is about 1/2 the price of the entire machine. And the ADF assemblies on 400 level products were designed by Hoover.

I second this. We have about a dozen of these deployed and they have been solid. Before we used Fujitsu fi-7160’s and they were also extremely reliable.
