I am sure many of you are familiar with the mantra, " If it runs on electricity or plugs into a wall in any way it falls under IT. " Enter stage left my newest request. I need some help finding a Signature Machine. Similar to this thing:

Has anyone ever used one before? What to look for? Any brand preferences? Wouldnt it be easier to just print a signature on the paper their handing out

4 Spice ups

Holy cow! They still make auto pens? Seriously though it would be easier and much cheaper to print out the signature in a pre determined place than use one of those. Is there a reason that would be bad? i.e. The autopen looks more genuine? You don’t want the CEO’s signature on blank pieces of paper?

We take samples of signatures for just that purpose!

Agreed, if you’re having to go that direction, stick with AutoPen. I’m pretty sure I read an article that AutoPen products are used by the White House.

Stamps seem to have gained some legal recognition as well, just to mention an alternative. I gather that one of the advantages is that the small imperfections in the rubber itself can be used to track an individual stamp quite well.

It would be easier to pre-print the signature. But most people don’t want signed “blank checks” laying around - too easy to fill-in-the-blank with nefarious intent. And, to create the pre-printed paper requires several people - admin, delivery guy, print-shop guy, etc., any one of which can “accidentally” drop a few sheets of paper. Or simply grab two sheets when you only need one from the top of the stack…

Having a physically large device that can’t be easily borrowed adds quite a bit of security.

Also, sometimes you need to sign documents other than your own blank sheets of paper. Photos (autographs), for instance, or proofs, purchase orders, invoices, etc.
