We have a pile of Brother devices, mostly MFC-L5850 and 5900, because of their built-in Scan To Email Server functionality. In those settings you have to put a username and password.
Recently our SMTP provider has changed password requirements and the passwords they are enforcing, seem to be too long for the Brother units. The passwords come in at between 65-70 characters. Trying to use one, the Brother machine will not accept the new settings and we get an error of “check password” or “check password length”.
Is there any way of possibly getting a firmware update that would allow longer passwords?
