Yeah, pretty much that, maybe it’s just because I’m newer to actual IT jobs, but most of the people that call from these companies I really don’t mind talking to. One thing though in particular is the guy that called me actually sounded interested in security and it wasn’t as if he was reading just a script (although I’m sure he was). Are most of these places like this/am I bound to get tired of these calls?

To be fair, all the calls I’ve gotten so far have been for products I’ve downloaded I don’t think I’ve actually gotten a random shot in the dark call yet.

I have gotten over the past month at least 10 calls from HP with the same script just a different person. After the third call, I started just hanging up on them. Starting to have a bad taste for HP.
At a previous spot, I was instructed to send all unsolicited calls to the owner’s dog, max.
So they would call asking to speak to the “title”, and we would say, “Let me send you over to Max, please hold.”
I just get answerphone messages or occasional calsl from “Do you or did your take out PPI on your loan…”

some times a bad company is used for contacting us. I normally try and keep things nice but I cut them off quickly and ask them pointed questions. I normally get the we would like to ask you questions calls.
I normally keep to vendors here on spiceworks. I just trust these guys to be a little nicer and not pass my information over to the call you 10 times in one day group.
I’ve gotten a large number of calls from them too. I tell them I’m getting ready for a meeting and if they could send me some information about their offerings in light weight laptops, desktops and blade servers. They aren’t even willing to email me anything. We’ve dropped HP off our possibilities for replacing our current systems…too bad for them our budget just tripled for next year.
Hey that’s awesome! Do you remember his name?
We try very hard to not annoy people, and we really do care about everyone’s security, so I’m very glad to know it wasnt a “OH GOD. GET THIS GUY OFF THE PHONE” call.
If you remember his name, I’ll make sure to High Five him, and tell his boss. I’ll keep you anonymous, so he doesn’t call back all excited.
Time to go ask the Sales Guys how many Deez Nuts calls they’re waiting on responses from…

Funny because our boss actually let us listen to one of the guys that left a message. Went something like this"
“Wow, wasn’t expecting that. Hello, Mr. Nutz, when you get a chance, please call me back at…” HAHA.

I frequently get calls, from many vendors, all thanks to the it in the past. If i have time i give em a listen, we all have jobs to do, but most of the time i will cut them off, thank them for thier information, and tell them if i have a need, there is all ready a vendor on file that will fill it.
