Hi there, I installed Spiceworks and collected all of the workstations. If I run a canned report called “Installed Applications”, it comes up blank. But if I view the configuration on any asset, i can see the applications installed. Alternatively, if I go to the Software dashboard, I can click on Adobe Acrobat X, and it will even show a list of computers it is installed on, but i have no way of generating a report. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello David,

My name is Anna. I’m a Software Engineer at Spiceworks. I have been volun-told  to field your support request.

Let me take a look at your issue. I’ll circle back soon with a resolution, or further questions, as the case may be.

David,

I can’t reproduce this issue in a 7.2.00532 application. Can you please tell me which version of the Spiceworks application you’re running? Thanks.

HI there, my dashboard shows Version 7.3.00048

I am wondering if I need to install a plugin of some sort? Very weird but most of the canned reports work but any report that refers to application do not run.

Does anyone else have the same problem? I can get information on anything else except installed applications. The report runs very quick and display a blank page. I tried this in Firefox and IE. I tried creating a custom report and set the application to %. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hey David,

This issue should be resolved by updating Spiceworks to the latest build here:

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.

Talk about timing. I was literally running the application report when you posted it. And yes it does work ! Thank you.

Hey David,

No problem! Please feel free to reach out to us any time!

Actually I spoke too soon. “Applications By Computer” works now (didn’t before). But “Installed Applications”,and “Software compliance” did not work. Again the report comes up quickly as blank . Also I randomly selected “People with Devices” and it came up blank as well. But tried “Services on Computers” and it worked. Very weird.

Hey David,

Sorry about that

Can you share the reports you’re using so I can test them out on my end?

Ok how do i do that? Or do i just export the blank report as a pdf / xls and attach here?

If you hover over the report on the right there will be a “share/export” button. From there you can share the reports to the Community and then list the links here.

here it is

report-applications_by_computer_2015_01_30.rptx (689 Bytes)

nice! I’ll try this out and let you know how it goes

Hey David,

I totally forgot to mention this earlier, but you’ll need to remove the “%” from the “installed applications” field and leave that field blank.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.

HI sorry but i dont see the % when i go to edit the report unless I am looking in the wrong spot

Interesting. If the % is gone the report should run correctly. I’ve just verified using your report on my test install.

Are you running version 7.3.00050?

This is the version

Hey David,

I was able to get “Installed Software” working by changing the “Application Name” line to:

  • Application Name - contains -

  • (leave the last field blank)

As for “Software Compliance” please try changing the first line as follows:

  • Number of Verified Licenses - greater than - 0

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.
