Happy Holidays, folks! I hope everyone is having a good day, week, and month. This time of year is full of family and good things for a lot of people, but it is also a time of year when a lot of people struggle. In case no one has told you today, I’m glad you’re here, and now is a terrible time to check out. If you find yourself needing to talk to someone, in the US you can dial 988. Here is a list of other numbers by country, if you find yourself in crisis. Remember, asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a show of strength.

Thank you for posting the suicide prevention help. It is going unchecked and people need to hear they will be missed.

Edited to add:

We lost a coworker to suicide this fall. It was gut-wrenching. I saw him a couple of days before at work and I realized (after the fact, hindsight is 20/20) that he had been showing signs. He was not his usual self. I so wish I had reached out more and asked better questions, but I didn’t. Please don’t make the same mistake and reach out or ask if you notice someone is not themselves. And if you are the one struggling, just know that even people you would never suspect will desperately miss you.

That’s a pretty cool version of Kashmir.

I saw Robert Plant and Alison Krauss last year when they supported The Eagles in Hyde Park, and didn’t know any songs, until my friend pointed out that I was singing along to one of them absently… I had to stop and listen for a while before I realised that they’d started doing Zeppelin songs and it hadn’t registered with me.

A bluegrass version of The Battle of Evermore is pretty cool!

and also When the Levee Breaks…

Well. I see one obvious piece of music for today:

And one from a band named after a drink in A Clockwork Orange:

And one from possibly the definitive movie version of A Christmas Carol:

Wish I could “double-spice” today’s Spark. Struggling with thoughts of suicide is a real thing for a lot of people. Which kind of makes me think of the quote oft attributed to Robin Williams… “Everyone you meeting is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.” I don’t know if he actually said it, or not… but truer words haven’t been spoken.

If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, please… I implore you… talk to someone.

@mikedecamp  Best wreath ever!

@ericcrawford I miss Robin Williams. Be kind all year but definitely this time of year if you are out shopping.

Much appreciated! I’ve been seeing all kinds of IT-inspired wreaths out there and figured I’d give it a shot.

I like how the guy playing the guitar in the thumbnail or picture or whatever it is of the Lindsey Stirling video is really giving it his all, and in reality nobody’s looking at him. Sorry, Elroy, but when people pay to see Lindsey Stirling play violin, you could be building a rocket ship while balancing poodles, and nobody’s going to notice you.

Nice quote of the day. IT Pros have the forethought that end users just might screw up the whole day.

Thanks, Inspirobot. I try to embarrass my self everyday.
