For some reason, I always think of Darwin doing his thing in the 17th century, but nope, it wasn’t actually that long ago, relatively speaking.

1964 – France & Great Britain sign accord over building channel tunnel

And a mere 30.25 years later it opened. Actually, not too bad considering the feats of engineering, politics, and finance required to make it happen.

Ten years later, and I wonder how many people are still bitter about how Leno stole the Tonight Show job away from Conan O’Brien. Hope it was worth it.

I was big in comics when I was young (and not so young, hehe), but he’s arguably the greatest creative influence on comics (nod to Stan, too, of course). I mean, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Mighty Thor, the Avengers, Iron Man, and X-Men (the latter being huge for me, although it was the Chris Claremont era). And he helped bring to life some great adversaries such as Doctor Doom and Galactus.

GnR should’ve stopped after the Use Your Illusion pair of records. Been a joke since.
