Appreciation: In honor of Phil Connors, who had to learn to appreciate the town of Punxsutawney in order to escape his personal time loop, we’re going to appreciate the community by reaching out to others. For quest item one, go say something nice / positive to someone you don’t know. Compliment someone’s post, welcome someone to the community , or congratulate someone who just reached the next pepper level . Tag them in the post so they have a better chance of seeing it. Coax those groundhogs out into the light. No sneaky snideness or sarcasm for this step, or you have to do the whole quest all over again… and again… and again…

Description: Part of the successful navigation of Valentine’s Day is a good description. For this quest item, tell us how you would describe Spiceworks to a friend in six words or less (think bumper sticker size). Alternately, actually design a Spiceworks bumper sticker.

Expression: For this quest item, tell us how you would express your love if you had to write it on one of those chalky candy hearts (which, by the way, might not be available this year). For our purposes, let’s say you are limited to 3 lines of up to 7 letters each. Alternately, if you hate Valentine’s day, you can design a chalky candy heart that is negative about love, like “Go Away.” Here is a place to practice if you like.

Recognition: Even vendors need love. For this step, do something nice for a vendor. Like, or comment, or follow… anything that reminds them that they are needed and appreciated in our community.

Romanticism: In honor of Valentine’s Day, tell us (in a safe-for-work way) the most romantic thing that you have ever done. Alternately, tell us what you have planned for this year. Alternately, if you hate Valentine’s Day, you can tell us the funniest (again in a safe-for-work way) anti-Valentine’s Day thing you’ve done, or seen, or looked up online, for instance a website where you can send dead fish instead of flowers.

Association: For this step of the quest, show some love to a fellow SpiceHead. Tell us about someone else in the community that you appreciate (in a non-romantic / non-stalker way) and why. [Hint: if you can’t think of anyone, here are some easy targets .]

Acclamation: This one is easy. Express your appreciation for Spiceworkers, either an individual or as a group. Has one of them ever helped you out? Tell us. Alternately, since you know this quest step seems all self-serving and stuff, tell us what you would do with your time if you got caught in a ten year time loop.

Ostentation: 6 More Weeks of Winter? Let’s find out: for this quest step, either post a picture of yourself, or a picture of your shadow. Alternately, if that is too invasive for you, you can post a picture of a groundhog.

Information: Let’s practice our descriptive abilities a little more. For this quest step, go write a product review about a product you have used. (No requirement to be positive for this one. Honesty is best. Just try to at least be polite, like those valentines you had to give in your elementary classroom even to people you didn’t know.)

Jubilation: Let’s end on a positive note. For the final task in this quest, go post something happy / amazing in the Huzzah thread.

I’m not much of a romantic. It’s typically flowers and home cooked dinner. This year though, is horse backing riding on the beach in Hawaii; we’re here for a family vacation and it is on a whim.

@Spiceworks in general is amazing. I’ve tried to participate in things like Unplugged, On The Air, and various webinars to give back to the community. But an individual shout out to Justin O (Spiceworks), Sean (Spiceworks), Ceci (Spiceworks), Sarah Crook (Spiceworks), and David S (Spiceworks).

I spiced-up @scott-sa-spiceworks 's awesome Iron Throne project.
My favorite anti-Valentine’s Day memory I have is from my first Valentine’s Day as a Spiceworks Community Manager, back in 2014. I had to ask IT to let me through the company firewall to a blacklisted site where you could purchase chocolate butt-related anatomy to see how NSFW it was. Because a SpiceHead had posted a link to it in the Community, and we had to figure out whether or not we were going to allow it. Oh, SpiceHeads…
This one’s tough, but hopefully Suzanne will let me slide with calling out the Women in IT group as a whole. I love too many SpiceHeads to call anyone out by name! I’d never be able to tag them all in one thread. D: These ladies are super supportive of one another and I really enjoy the group’s atmosphere. :]
Gotta call out Brittany (Spiceworks) here. I can always count on her for candle-shopping-binges and marathoning some cartoons/board games. It’s also HER BIRTHDAY WEEK. Happy Birthday, Brittany!

Description: In six words or less, eh? Hm…how about “Everyone Loves Bacon And Technology Here”, and I mean that in the best way possible. Bacon is life.
Expression**:** I think this heart sums it up for my end users/friends with tech problems:

Recognition: Let me start by saying that the Green Guys/Gals out there are some of the nicest, most supportive people I think I’ve ever met online. I gotta give a shout out to Mike (AeroCom Inc.) for his awesome support in the community, as well as for his words of encouragement while I was juggling quite a bit in my life. I appreciate you Mike, thank you for all that you do!
Romanticism: I made my wife a card and put a beautiful necklace in it - when you shine a light through the pendant on the necklace, it displays “I love you” in 100 different languages. I also am going to make a nice dinner for us and handle all of the cleanup, putting the kids to bed, etc, so she can relax for the night. She works full time and takes care of our son while she’s at work, so she definitely deserves a break!
Association: There’s a lot of awesome SW peeps out there, so this was a hard one. I have to give a shout out to dimforest for actually making me laugh out loud at my desk on multiple occasions with his humor, as well as being incredibly helpful in the forums. Denise5318: The review of Sean’s fake company is a little questionable, but hey, my example was also questionable, so I guess I can’t complain. I really liked the bumper sticker and the picture of Sean.

DiegoF1000101: Your description of Spiceworks in 6 words or less was weird, but I did limit you to six words, so we’ll say that one is on me. Good laid-back Valentine’s idea, and great groundhog pic.

AllthingsIT: I call lack of effort on the presentation for the bumper sticker and candy heart, but the content was excellent. Loved #6. Hadn’t seen that before. Unfortunately, I can’t find your entry for #9. Are you sure you linked to the correct product? Most recent review on that page seems to be January 21st.

Rburch: Love the bumper sticker idea. Would have been better with an actual picture… or at least a picture of bacon. Very romantic story about your husband. Loved the review where the printer changed its language to French. That is hilarious. And extra credit on the Huzzah thread since I notice that you posted in there again today.

LittleITguy: Thank you for tagging in step one. Since so many people skipped this part, I am giving you extra credit and letting you off for breaking the rules in step 4. #5 was a little sketchy because it isn’t clear whether you made a necklace (super impressive), or just gifted one (still nice, but less impressive). Also loved the groundhog cookbook pic.

Tom6018: Good graphics, and whisking your wife away to an island? Nice. You had a couple of numbering problems, but that’s okay. Not everyone can be a math whiz.

Austin_Shope: Loved the black heart. Also loved your time loop ideas. Programming and Monty Python. Sounds like an interesting mix.

bbigford: I like the sentiment for sure, but #3 breaks the rules. “Appreciate” has like a billion letters in it. also #9: Your review is from 2015, so let’s get a newer one. Hawaii was good… super romantic. Love the shadow/pool pic.

brianschaefer: In #1 I guess, depending on tone of voice, that might count as complimenting someone’s post… #6 is the same link as #4, and I don’t see the illustration of your love for any particular SpiceHead in it. Maybe you put in the wrong link? Loved the groundhog pic, and liked your huzzah about your snow-shoveling prowess.

Sarah Crook (Spiceworks): Loved the bacon on your bumper sticker. Calling out a group instead of individuals is questionable, but I’ll let it slide. The dancing groundhog and the cone of shame pics were both awesome.

Ugh I’m not in the mood to do all 9 steps so I’m skipping the badge but I have a few things to say about a few OG’s, some GG’s and some SpiceHeads I like.

Spiceworks is more then just a place to learn. It’s THE place to be if you want to learn and have some of the skills from other SpiceHeads rub off on you. When I started as pimento and wanted to learn PowerShell someone told me to follow cduff, Martin9700 and tfl because they know damn nearly everything from it. I’m sure I caused them some headaches with my sometimes repetitive mistakes and calling Martin9700 the PowerShell yoda at one time. Tfl facepalmed me for it . The 3 of them kept giving me hints and tips without doing my homework for me. Learned a lot from them. Thanks for that. For what it concerns OG’s I like the chats I have had with current and former. To me Ceci ( Spiceworks) keeps satisfying my addiction for HP news (yup I’m addicted to HP so blame me ) . When it comes to GG’s it’s very hard to mention a few and not mention others. They all deserve praise for what they do for us ( and I’m not talking about swag) . Some of them I am calling personal friends ( persons concerned will know I am talking about them) now and others continuously go above and beyond the call of duty. Note that I’m calling out Microsoft former GG Chris ( AKA fatLUNCH ) . I remember returning after being sick for a long time and you guys were genuinely concerned about me. Others like Jordan ( Thycotic ) , Kim ( Sophos) , Ryan ( Netwrix and Priscilla@HP continuously tolerate my insatiable urge to know more about their products without having the right gear to run it ( no sufficient cash after divorce to buy decent gear ). And Mike from Eaton I suspect you don’t sleep cause you are always so fast with a reply.

To round it off, Spiceworks is not just a community but more like a family. Thanks for allowing me in.

I appreciate everyone on here. I’ve gotten a lot of good advice and have learned a lot from there. If I have to single out a single person, it would be Robert5205 because he always gives good advice and I like his sense of humor.
The two Spiceworkers that I’ve had the most interactions with are Suzanne and David S. and they have both been super helpful. If I was stuck in a ten year loop, I would travel all over the world and keep trying to better myself.
