Dear all,

I work in a small company and want to implement a solution of helpdesk/servicedesk.

I’m using spicework, but our general manager demand to use an online solution “as a service” concept.

Does anyone sell spiceworks as a service ? Or if not, does any of you propose an online solution at the right price ?

The most things I need is to automate tickets that comes from mails.

Thank you

I don’t think it is allowed (or even technically possible), to sell SW as a service, because it scans your network it really does work best when installed locally.

Plus why would your manager want to pay for Spiceworks when its available free of charge by default?

It sounds like your manager has gotten some SaaS buzzwords in his head, my advice would be to explain to him why something like SW (or any sort of automated inventory/helpdesk/network monitoring tool), works best when running locally inside your network.

We run 5 Helpdesks, based on Spiceworks and find it a wonderful product for providing these services. We do not currently SaaS our Helpdesk service but it is an interesting idea.

However Spiceworks is very easy to setup, manage and use and comes at a great price FREE, which leaves plenty of room for customization and personalization for your business. All this makes me wonder why your GM demands it be outsourced as a service? Which is bound to cost a lot more money, this type of service does not normally come cheap for small businesses, the turning point on efficiency and cost effectiveness would be 250-300 seats.

Edit: Does your GM realise that any major network or ISP problem would result in the service being unavailable?

btw: An instance of Spiceworks can be configured to do ONLY Helpdesk and no scanning or other duties, which is how 4 of our 5 work. This makes them very efficient and not impacted at all by the network scanning and other features.

Just incase anyone is thinking about trying to SaaS Spiceworks, you probably can’t without written permission from Spiceworks themselves according to the Terms of Use:

Personal, Internal Business or Limited Commercial Use Only
The Service is made available to you for: a) your personal use; b) your internal business use; or c) if you are a Managed Service Provider (“MSP”), or Value Added Reseller (“VAR”), use in the commercial support of your customers, in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. If you want to make any other commercial use of the Service, including but not limited to selling or distributing the Service for payment, you must enter into a written agreement with Spiceworks or obtain Spiceworks’ written permission in advance. If you are asked to register you must provide complete and accurate identification, contact, and other information required as part of the registration process. Spiceworks reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse or discontinue participation to any user or Member at any time.

I’ve seen that you moved this topic from SAAS to Spiceworks support. Thanks you very much.

But I wasn’tt expecting that i can buy Spiceworks from anywere :). It was a funny rhetoric question.

So i’m asking if anybody knows some very good helpdesk SaaS that can be bought. .

Ahhh, and one last thing. I’m using spiceworks from 3.1, i’ve made scripts for it. But still my GM doesn’t want to load maintenance of a HD software to his IT team. :(.

There are many SaaS help desks, such as autotask. You will be looking at thousands of dollars of cost that you don’t need with Spiceworks already in place.
