I am going to write up a security How To that I think community members will find very valuable. I was wondering, is it bad practice to create a discussion in the security group with a link to the how to? I was hoping to get any feedback on the content as well as trigger a discussion on the topic in general (browser security).
My intentions would be to help share the information and keep everyone a little more safe and not to generate points or anything. Any thoughts or advice on this is appreciated!
EDIT: community guidelines are here: http://community.spiceworks.com/education/projects/Community_Guidelines

I don’t see anything wrong with creating a discussion that points to your how-to that outlines the reasons for its creation and how it might help others.

I agree. I don’t see any issues with that approach.
