Hello,

Issue, started with Spiceworks ‘Application Error’. Logs showed malformed database.

So, we restored database to backup from two days prior. After that, I could login but new tickets showed the following error:

Error message: SQLite3::CorruptException:
 database disk image is malformed: SELECT * FROM "configuration" WHERE ("configuration"."name" = 'hostname_is_full_url') LIMIT 1

Looking at the configuration table, there are hundreds of rows that appear to be from the user table. Can this be fixed without rolling back further and losing all those tickets?

Hi David,

Have you been editing the database directly or having another application access the database when the Spiceworks server is on and running? That is almost always how data gets written to the incorrect table. If you have been editing the database, that database would then no longer be supported by us here. Your options would be to revert to a backup from before you edited the DB, or you could start over with a completely new database.

If that isn’t the case, please let me know and we’ll see about getting your database over to us for a repair.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the reply. About a week ago, we attempted to make a database change outside of Spiceworks and ended up with a corrupt database. We then rolled back to a backup made by spiceworks and the issue was resolved. Since reverting to the backup, we have made no changes to the database. There is no software other than spiceworks writing to the database.
