Good evening afternoon one!

I have been using Spiceworks inventory for a while now and I have here recently decided to try out Spiceworks network monitor. I was reading the install directions and noticed you’re not supposed to install it on the same system as Spiceworks inventory. Which I did try that and it was super buggy, and wouldn’t monitor my devices anymore they all would just be blank.

My first Question Could I install Spiceworks Network Monitor on the same machine as the Spiceworks inventory but put the network monitor on a VM instead

How many devices can you monitor with Spiceworks Network Monitor?

My PC is running

CPU AMD Athlon ll x4 640 quad core

Ram 8 GB

Network Connection is 1 GB for my LAN

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Neither product should really be on your day to day use machine, they are designed to be on servers that run all the time, on their own box.

Yes, virtual is supported for both

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

I have Spiceworks Inventory installed on a dedicated server that always stays running I meant to say server not PC. So could I install the Network monitor on a VM on that same server and it work fine?

{"@type":"Person
raybishop
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/raybishop"}},{"@type":"Answer

Yes, but I assume by same server you mean installing a type-2 hypervisor on top of the existing OS? That’s not recommended for production, but it will work

{"@type":"Person
Rod-IT
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Rod-IT"}},{"@type":"Answer
