Netbackup Training 7.6 vs 8.0

Hello,

I’ve been put in change of a Netbackup 7.6 system at work, before the admin left I was the tape lackey who removed tapes, shipped them off and put tapes back in to the library so I have some basic understanding of how the system works. With the departure of the admin I’ve been changed with running the whole thing and started looking for some training so I know what I’m doing. So far I’ve been unable to find any training classes for the Netbackup 7.6 version but I’ve found some classes for the 8.0 version.

We have no plans to upgrade to 8.0 as of right now but I’m wondering if the 8.0 classes would still be worth my time. Has Netbackup changed a lot since version 7.6 or will most of the basics still be the same?

Any info would be great, thanks for your time.

Hi Tamlin,

Thank you for reaching out about this. The NetBackup basics remain the same between NetBackup v7.x and v8.
I think you will find it beneficial to go through the v8 training - again the basics are the same, but it will also give you an overview/training on some of the additional features.

Thanks for your response, I will look at getting enrolled in a 8.0 class.
