I will say, I’ve only been hit up a few times for help but mostly because people are confused by what Demand Gen is or really, who but a company needs my email marketing skillz?

Oh you work in a bussiness providing bussiness IT support? Handy because I have a problem with;
‘a piece of cheap, knockoff hardware you’ve never heard of’
‘a random (and most likely spy ware) bit of software’
‘my internets, I don’t have enough’
‘my phone, it doesn’t do x y or magically connect to my fridge’
‘my wireless, it has too many cables’

First mistake… answer “what do you do” with “I work in IT”… Correct answers are:
A) (serious) I charge people money to assist them with computer issue they could often fix themselves if they tried…
b) (not) I try to avoid killing people for their offences against common sense and the demonstration of increasing levels of stupidity…
Second mistake… answering the second question.
Third: waiting out the “pause”…
I find that if, during the pause, you put your index finger to their lips and say “sssshhhh” you can quickly defuse the situation and avoid any further questioning.
