We are currently using Stratodesk for our thin client software. They were bought out by IGEL.
Looking for alternatives to Stratodesk other than IGEL.

I am also using them, we are going to ride it out as long as we can. I am going to follow this thread as well.

That is probably what we are going to do, but would like alternatives to test.

Besides the obvious copy/paste of what you use Stratodesk for, how about a list of must-have’s, nice to have’s, wouldn’t mind if it had?

Stratodesk is a thin client solution.
Need installable OS managed by console.
Able to connect to a VDA (Citrix) environment.

I have used Ncomputing years ago and it was not a great experience. I know others who have had similar experiences with their software. I will admit it has been awhile since I have looked at it. Has it gotten any better?

We liked Stratodesk because it had perpetual licensing and was relatively affordable. It’s console was rock solid and it worked really well. The licenses would transfer to replacement devices and the OS was mostly hardware agnostic. It is a fantastic platform, it is too bad that IGEL it killing it.
We have used it for RDP and Citrix. But it supports almost any platform that you can use for remote access. It would be nice to have its affordability and reliability.

What don’t you like about IGEL?

We trialed some hardware years ago, but they’ve since transitioned to a software/OS only company.

From what I remember, the experience wasn’t the smoothest (with the lower tier models we tested), but modern hardware should cope much better.

I just want to be sure it is the best option for us. I have been testing it and have trouble on some of our hardware.

What kind of trouble? We might be better able to help you with the issue than replacing the system.

I have E-Mailed IGEL support on that but have not heard back yet.

We had some issues with certain devices that had an Intel J4125. It was mostly connection related and their support was not able to replicate it. We only had a couple so we mostly abandoned those.

I am testing with a system with a J4125 and have no issues with install OS12.
Having issues with one that has a J3455

For us it was on an older version of Stratodesk and it was every time you played a video on full screen (Using RDP), it would freeze up and disconnect. It was a very specific device and issue. They fixed the issue with newer versions of Touch OS. It was about a year an a half ago.
