Yeah… I know this is random, but I am SURE someone has an opinion or suggestions. I have been streaming from IHeartRadio on my phone at work, but I really would like to not have my music tied to my phone and use an actual radio/device. With that said, I want something that I can put a @*$ ton of MP3s on, so I was thinking a radio with a USB and/or SD slot and of course 3.5mm jack to hook to speakers would be gold. At the moment my Amazon searching is failing me and I am not finding anything great. Does anyone have suggestions on something good that might fit this bill?

I take it a thumb drive or external hard drive attached to your computer at work won’t fit the bill?

In my garage I use my phone as my mp3 player (micro SD in it) and I have an Aux port on the radio I plug my phone into.

My wife got me that one for Christmas. She bought it elsewhere for around $30. I think at Best Buy. It doesn’t take USB or SD, however it does have an aux in jack, so you could plug your phone in for MP3s.
Whether you get this one or not, I highly recommend an HD radio instead of a traditional AM/FM. I wanted it for some of the sub-channels. In particular, 105.9-2 in my area is the Pittsburgh Penguins station which has a ton of game analysis as well as minor league and college hockey coverage. However, I was really impressed with how clear the normal FM stations come in that are broadcast in HD. Instead of dealing with static like a traditional radio might have, the stations are every bit as clear as what you’re streaming on your phone.

My son actually just got this for Christmas (from me LOL). It was my fallback, as it really does work well. I guess I was looking for something a little nicer, but no more than $50. But I may end up going this route because it does fit all my requirements :o)

I’m probably going to order one… Just because it is inexpensive doesn’t mean it’s not “nice” Don’t spend more money than you have to. Hell, buy two of them and save one for when the first one dies and you will still be under $50 by a good margin.

What I can say from experience with the TomTop is that it comes from overseas (it look a long time even having Amazon Prime), it only comes with a USB charger and it is junk. It should work with any mini USB (not micro) charger. But considering, the little speaker has pretty decent sound. I have not tried plugging it into external speakers. Oh and the biggest downside is that it doesn’t display track names and you can only advance/go back one track at at time. Soooo if you have 2,498,249,083,498 MP3s and want to listen to something specific… well… that 'aint 'gonna happen!

You might be able to find one with just USB and with the right SD card reader could work. a bit of trial and error with that though. Most people here use personal laptops, docks, or tablets. You’d figure if car stereos can pull music off a USB drive a radio device shouldn’t be too difficult to do right.
Not a bad one here. 4GB is not so big but it has a radio. At $39, it will go with you. Just need some speakers for the desk.
I’m guessing a smartphone is not an option?

As mentioned, I am using my phone currently, but it is a pain. I need to carry my phone around with me when I leave my desk - which happens often. It is a pain to disconnect/reconnect each time I need to get up.
Check out this option then. Its like having an iPod with many options…
