Does mix and match of RDIMM & LDIMM RAM works? Or is this a bad idea?

Different Types of RAM

I was looking at buying some RAM for a Dell PowerEdge 710 and was wondering what the differences between PC3-10600, PC3-10600R, PC3-10600H, and PC3L-10600R are... Assuming they're all Registered ECC, would they all be compatible? I've tried searching to find the differences but Google doesn't seem to like minor differences in strings.

You cannot mix types though, they must all be the same. If you mix them, the system simply wont boot.

I can tell you from personal experience that the system won’t boot when you mix RDIMM and LRDIMM together.

It is. Your RAM sticks should be as equal as possible for the best performance and reliability.
