Great so far!

I recently led my organization’s rollout of TeamViewer to a relatively small set of PCs that live away from the main office. Deployment was pretty quick and easy, as was the account setup process. I love that I can now remotely access those PCs for support tasks, and even access them unattended for maintenance tasks, without compromising on security.

What are the pros?

Ease of setup. Minimal user training needed. Helpful security features (screen blackout, input lockout, remote reboot, multiple authentication options for unattended access, etc.). Relatively quick and easy deployment.

What are the cons?

Some English-language support documentation contains random asides in German… That said, the knowledge base is still pretty robust and useful.

Great for personal use

I have really liked TeamViewer over the years for personal use. They did some really weird things over the years with business licensing though. Works pretty well, slick interface, tons of features.

Stay away from Teamviewer - Costs are skyrocketing, quality decreasing!

My company has used Teamviewer for over a decade. In that time they forced us to purchase not one, but two different so-called “Lifetime licenses”

For versions 10 and then 11 of their software.
When purchasing the first license they failed to mention that when they upgraded their software they would push a new version to our clients before we could have a chance to stop it, and then almost immediately prevent us from connecting to our managed systems without first upgrading.

After we purchased these “lifetime” licenses, they abruptly switched to a subscription model.

The cost of that subscription has increased by about 100% in the last 4 years, and now they’ve implemented really low device limits!

So not only has my cost doubled, I would have to purchase additional licensing just to keep managing the same number of computers I have managed all along.

Save your money, go with another vendor!

Ad blocking connection

Remote support was not working on a PC within the office yesterday (walking distance away). Restarted TV on both PC’s & connected, then connection ended & “client not online”
Went back to destination PC to find one of their stupid ads for new feature - the advertisement was blocking the connection > close advert & TV is miraculously available again.
Does ANYBODY use these new features they are stupidly adding?

What are the pros?

Multiscreen support

What are the cons?

Less crud features we don’t need, return to labels you can read.
NO ADVERTISING ON PAID LICENSES!!

Avoid Teamviewer! High costs and Terrible Interface

Teamviewer decided to make a complete interface and management change recently and it’s a complete failure!! Not to mention they are ridiculously expensive now. In addition they have had multiple outages in 2023 plus the connections are slow to open and sometimes I can’t even control the computer so I have to exit and reconnect.

After 15 years using teamviewer I am looking elsewhere!

What are the pros?

It was great, but it’s not anymore!

What are the cons?

Everything now… I can’t say anything good about it anymore!!

Complete NO after 15 years

I used Teamviewer exclusively for 15 years to connect to endpoints for attended and unattended access.

When they changed the GUI earlier this year without warning

I found out within days when a new user need help and they coudn’t find the ID number

I had many discussions with Teamviewer support and the end result was they were moving to the new GUI and that it would be enforced.

Then I discovered my subscription was going up by 60% to renew for the year.

I have moved ALL of my clients and endpoints to Anydesk. It has good features and it took me a while to become familiar with the interface, but overall it’s easy to use and it easily performs the same tasks.

I will actively discourage anyone from considering Teamviewer in the future and Teamviewer has lost a loyal customer in me and I seriously doubt I will ever consider them in the future.

What are the pros?

It did the job for me before the GUI change

What are the cons?

non friendly end user GUI change, especially for users with very little computer knowledge and significant cost increase.
