Is there a way in Windows Server 2008 R2 to schedule a kill users command after they have been logged on for X hours?

Hi,

Goto administrative tools, remote desktop services, remote desktop session host configuration and setup your limits as required - see screen shot for suggestions. This is how I run my servers.

Perfect! Since you seem knowledgeable allow me to ask one more question. Is there a way to schedule this for packaged applications/a way to tell if a user has created a full session or a packaged app session?

Hi,

From an RDS session perspective I believe they are treated the same. As I do not run the servers here as application servers - just as full session terminal servers I cannot be 100% sure but believe that an app serverd via RDS is treated the same as a full session.

You can list active sessions via administrative tools, remote desktop services, services manager. The active sessions are listed on the right, you can even interact with the user via this screen, right click the session for more options.

Hopefully this is of some help to you.

Merry Xams.
