Hi;

All my client workstations have their own logins. I am trying to create the logins required but keep on geeting the message "Test Failed: check account, password or WMI configuration"

I know the account names and password, thus the problem must be the WMI configuration.

I am unfortunately not too educated on networks and am trying to manage my own company network, so I apologise in advance if the question might seem trivial or stupid.

Please help.

First question - Don’t you hava a Administrator account setup with admin password

2nd - You can check if there is a firewall ON on the workstations.

If you have a Admin account and password you should be able get to most of your workstations with this credentials.

That’s my ideas.

Good luck

Hi Dawid

Thanks for the reply.

The workstations’ firewalls are completely disabled and I have created administrator logins for them also. This doesn’t work. Is there any specific format to the entry of login details? Currently it goes as follows;

Account: Create Windows Account

Description: Rep2 (For customer representative station #2)

Login: Jaco (The administrative account created on the workstation)

Password: ********* (The password for the administrative account “Jaco”)

Looks OK to me .

Can’t think of anything else.

Is “Jaco” got full admin rigts . Is there an account called Administrator that u can use

Yes, Jaco has full admin rights. I’ve also figured out via forums how to nake sure the specific login is enabled in WMI and have double-checked to ensure everything is allowed in WMI Management. Still, to no avail.

Spiceworks detects the workstations but still cannot login. I keep getting the same error :

"Test Failed: check account, password or WMI configuration"

Also, Windows XP does have an “Administrator” account by default, with no password, I am trying to use that, but Spiceworks demands a password.

Thank you for your interest and help. I have however, located the problem and its fixed now.

Have to set ForceGuest in the system registry to value “0” in \h_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Thanks anyways!!!

I made the registry change you mention worked above…but I still get the check account, password or WMI configuration message.
