Not sure if this has been shared yet, but apparently there was a massive outage at Time Warner last night into this morning that still has some lingering effects.

We were down from 2-3am last night until almost 6am this morning. More info here:

We were down from about 4:30 - 6AM. Cant wait to get our 2nd fiber line in so we can gain redundancy.

Same for us. We just got our first fiber line - so a second isnt in our future…yet.

Our project included 2 Fiber lines with failover becaues we are sick and tired of being at the mercy of one internet vendor and their constant outages (looking at you Windstream).

Reading the comment on these new stories…

“Probably just the NSA installing some network upgrades…”

“…as a result, Comcast has lowered their bid to $40.2 billion”

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

I really hope this doesn’t turn into a, “We need Comcast to bail us out because we can’t afford to keep our infrastructure going…” thing.

Someone who got to the office at 6:30 texted me that there was no Internet. Then I heard them talking about it on the radio. My home Internet was down as well. But shortly after 7:00 it was back up, so when most people came in it was ok.

Sounds like some network maintenance that didn’t go as planned.

Their website and phones were down too.

I was reading about this yesterday, people said changing their DNS server to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 for example got them back online.

Was this morning’s outage a continuing problem with just their DNS, or was it actually something more substantial?

As to phones being down, I can’t ever tell if that’s cause there is an actual outage, or just a sudden influx of callers because nothing appears to be working?

No, it was a complete outage, I use Google’s DNS servers (the ones you listed) as default and they were unaccessible during the outage, as were Comodo’s secure DNS servers.

I actually couldn’t get much further then the ISP gateway… Maybe 1-2 hops, generally no further then my areas demark.

Charters issue last weekend was DNS related (I use google DNS so I wasn’t affected).

TWC is being sold as a network upgrade gone wrong.
