We are having somee issues with out phones that I am hoping somebody could assist with.

On friday, we had an issue that caused our branch offices to disconnect from the vpn for about 30 minutes. After that, almost half of our phones are having issues.

Many of them seem like they are muted. You can call it but can’t hear anybody speaking on either end. An employee played with one and noticed that when the handset was picked up it was mute, but if he help down the hang up buttonn, he could hear and even made a call out, backwards!

I have tried rebooting the phones and must admit I have a limited knowledge of them.

Anybody ever run into this issue or similar?

What about a PBX reboot? What does that do?

Wait - is it only phones at branch offices or just phones on the same subnet as the PBX?

I will say that I saw some malfunctioning voice ports, reset that system and it brought up almost every phone.

There are still 2 phone in 1 branch office that oddly enough, only work when the handset button is pushed.

When I first call a phone, they pick up and it goes silent on both ends, when hanging the phone up or pushing the button it works fine…

Well got the last 2 working, the users had switched the handset and headset ports, grrr.
