I run an old HP D360 server at home that I got when a company was getting riding of them. It is definitely old but it has dual 4-core processors and 96GB of memory. So it’s a workhorse and still runs fine.

I put TrueNAS on it. NAS part works great, but I’d love to run a few VMs in it which TrueNAS does internally. My trouble is I can install and run the VMs. but cannot get it to capture the mouse. By default it wants to use VNC to access it. I have tried

  • Chrome, Chromium, Firefox and Edge
  • Windows and Linux
  • Different VNC programs.
  • different physical computers
  • different mice and even a trackpad
Nothing is working to capture then dang mouse. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

ADDENDUM: Is there any way other than VNC to access these?

Keyboard capture ok?

Seems to be. I was able to complete an install using keystroke combos but once I could get no mouse I got frustrated (and it was midnight) and just went to bed.

Try a different mouse. Does the kybrd mouse combo work in a different device?

Forgot to add. I tried 2 different mice as well. Wired and wireless. No joy. Yeah they work everywhere else. I also tried different machines. 3 of them. On laptop, touchpad also fails to connect.

NVM. I find it. “Known issue” in TrueNAS. Thanks all
