I’m having a hard time finding enterprise grade SATA drives in 2.5" form factor. Preferably HDDs.

I did find Samsung SM863 SSD’s in SATA rated for enterprise but wanted to know if using linux software RAID 1 would cause any issues with these drives. According to Samsung, they say Yes to hardware RAID controllers.

The server only has 2 bays, and both are 2.5". Would need at least 500GB, although 1 or 2TB would be preferred.

Would these blow your budget?:

You mentioned you would prefer HDDs:

The Solid State Drives would be tons faster but obviously they cost roughly 3x as much for about the same capacity.

Sweet! Didn’t know Seagate actually made 2.5" for enterprise. I know WD has the Red’s but they only go up to 1TB and lack speed and cache.

SSDs all day long, and you can google SSDs today to find that they are now even more reliable than spinning rust

have fun

Awesome - I ended up picking up a few of your 1 and 2 TB drives.
