Hello guys.I have these two Unifi LR.After software update they turned solid amber. When i disconnect power and back they just turn amber immediately and nothing happens. When i connect the LAN cable to my laptop even the network icon on my laptop does nothing to indicate detection of the AP.Can any one help on how i can roll back or go about getting them to work.Av spent enough time and so far no success.

Try a hard reset, looks like the update borked

Hi,

I suggest that you perform a factory reset. Check if you can find a reset button or a tiny hole and press and hold for 15 seconds or so, Depending on the manufacture specification on reset procedures.

I already did that severally but no change.I have tried pressing the reset button and input the LAN cable to try and make the device boot on reset mode but powers on solid amber immediately i plug in the LAN cable.I have tried sending an email to UBIQUITY requesting the RMA reset but they are taking forever.I have even tried the SSH and pumkin Software update but ooops!!! Non seems to work.

There’s a few different processes and steps to try to salvage this

First is the normal reset while powered up - you tried this

Next is to connect it to a dummy switch or just the PoE brick with no network uplink, once it’s started up connect to the same network with a hardcoded IP in the 192.168.1.x range, and try ping/ssh to 192.168.1.20. If this works you could force an adopt by manually pointing it to the controller IP

If the IP responds but SSH doesn’t you could try the TFTP boot method - you said this didn’t work

If all of the Above don’t work next is to use a USB->TTL cable, open the Unit, connect it to the serial port (if the port is available,or solder on the Pins if it’s not),then try booting the unit and see if it completes a boot,at which point you could reflash using the TTL cable

If it fails this too it’s pretty bricked

Try contacting their support from the controller instead of just email. That is how I have gotten things done before.

are they adopted in the Unifi Controller?

Solid Amber means the device is online in its default state waiting for adoption.

See the below color chart for the meanings. for the LR you will have to scroll down to the legacy section

Solid amber directly after receiving power means an issue, solid amber after rotating and flashing is waiting for adoption

As @PsyWuld said you would need to connect the AP to a dummy switch; connect your computer to same switch and set a static IP of 192.168.1.xx.

What is the model is it the UAP-LR(sounds like the older unit) What version was the AP on?

You will probably need to manually load the firmware. To do so you will need:

Pumkin - File:Pumpkin-2.7.3.zip - IPitomy Wiki

The firmware(2 versions)

3.7.58 - https://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/BZ2/3.7.58.6385/BZ.ar7240.v3.7.58.6385.170508.0942.bin

4.0.15 - https://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/BZ2/4.0.15.9872/BZ.ar7240.v4.0.15.9872.181229.0259.bin

We have had similar issues with UniFi AP and Dell N2000 series switches. With the AP connected, reboot the Dell Switch (reload) and usually, the AP will connect and start working.

Welcome to the community!! Although I know you want to fix this, I would recommend that you get the AP AC LR Devices, Is that the model you have or the old version? The only thing that I would recommend is the TFTP Firmware Recovery
