It is desktop running Win XP pro and it is on same network and does not have firewall. Spiceworks can not identify this unit. I tried to create account for it with specified IP and user name and password, but still nothing. Workgroup is same as computer where spiceworks is installed.
Pleas help me find what I’m doing wrong.

- Can you perform the WMIC command from your Spiceworks host machine to the machine showing up as unknown
Open a cmd prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and enter the following syntax:
c:\ wmic /user:username /password:yourpassword /node:remotemachine
systemenclosure get serialnumber
I want to determine if WMI is configured properly if a serial number returns, WMI is in good shape. If you receive an error please send me that information.
- Also perform a forward and reverse DNS lookup on these IP addresses/computernames from the cmd
nslookup ip address
nslookup computername
