Hello Spiceheads,
We are having an issue with the Spiceworks inventory. Our scans come back with about 60 - 70 devices being “unknown” and I have tried just about all Spiceworks support suggestions including:
- Configured WMI and ICMP to be allowed in Windows Firewall via Group Policy
- Physically accessed the systems and used the cmd lines to do the above process
- Used “/fix” after our Spiceworks server name on a web browser on the effected computers, and followed those troubleshooting steps.
- Changing scan speed to slow and disabling Reverse Lookup as options for our scan settings.
I would also like to make a point that there is no pattern to what type of computers are effected, and we do not have anyone using any third party applications that could be blocking it.
More info:
We use Trend Micro as an anti-virus.
Our DNS and DHCP is more or less accurate.
Some of the computers are entered in multiple times.
We have purchased these computers from a local “custom” builder. (This last one may be important)
Any help or suggestions are appreciated, as I have been working on this for months.

I also will be updating my OP with any additional information that I left out, or may be relevant
Thanks
matts

Hi there! I think the best thing to do here is to gather up some logs and see what’s going on. You’ve been through a lot of the standard troubleshooting already.
You’ll get an email from support@spiceworks.com here shortly, and we can see what’s happening.
