Dearest user,
I know you may be having problems with your machine. But for the last time - I do not want to hear how you want to throw your computer out the window, kick it, beat it with a baseball bat, put TNT in it, etc… It’s my job to fix the computers and at the time I was working on resolving a problem with the backups and rebooting the secondary DC when the primary DC decided it wanted to go offline too. Please, in the future just tell me your problem and we’ll go from there. Thanks
BTW feel free to add your rant below, it helps me to know I’m not alone…

“I may be able to fix some issues, but the majority of issues come about from poorly programmed applications from various vendors. I cannot ‘open’ the program and just change the code. We have to wait for a patch from the vendor to make the issue go away.”
Adobe C++ error I’m looking at you.

Since they tell us how much they have to destroy what they work on, does that mean we get to tell them how much we want to destroy them? I’m just sayin’…

we have a jar and every time someone says they are " computer savey " we put a quarter in the jar then @ the first fri of the month we go to the bar and usally have about 40-50 bucks to drink on. All on our spare change.

Wouldn’t you want that to be the user’s spare change? I feel like if THEY bought you the drinks it would be better =)
“While I understand your frustrations with your equipment, a wish to do violence to your system may not be the best threat to make in range of the computers microphone. While you may suspect that in a few years a computer will be doing your job and you will have been replaced, this is not entirely true. Computers will replace your boss and they are smart enough to not want your job. I don’t even want to imagine the hell you will be in when you report to work for someone that just a few short months ago you were threatening to kick and throw out the window.”

While kicking a PC does work often, defenestration is not recommended and may void your warranty.

You need to make THEM put a quarter in the jar.

A tip jar just might bribe me to respond quicker to a users problem
Unfortunately, I don’t think management would approve

No, I don’t know how to do “X” in [insert some random program here]. Knowing how to do “X” in [insert some random program here] is on your resume, not mine. You’re making 3x more than me why?

It’s the golden tongue/brown nose that gets them that salary.
