vCenter appliance and update manager

Greetings…

What are you guys doing as far as update manager and vCenter appliance goes? Are most of you just sticking the update manager on a VM and pointing it to the vCenter appliance? Kinda bummed the appliance doesn’t contain the update manager. Thanks!

It’s about all you can do tbh. I’d move to the appliance in a heartbeat if/when they fix that issue.

I have played around with vCentre Appliance but in a production environment have always gone for the Windows install as we normally pop VUM on the same server.

If they include VUM with the appliance then I will definitely use it a lot more.

I’ve been poking around the 5.1 site to see if this was addressed. It wasn’t.

I am trying the VUM on a separate Windows 2008 VM now and will report back on well it works…
