Hello All,
I am getting the following message on our veeam server.
backup console version ‘9.5.0.1922’ is not compatible with installer service on host
I am currently having issues because the consultants that helped with our virtual environment project put the software in their name and our support license expired. I am not allowed to renew it myself. I was told I’d have to purchase the software all over again. I’m dealing with that company as I type. So I’m in a bit of an unfortunate situation.
Any idea how I can get around this until we get our license situation squared away? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have multiple Veeam B&R installations? Google tells me that is caused by a mismatch between the version of B&R you are running and the agent installed on the host.

Thanks for the response. We only have 1 install going which is installed on the Veeam Server.
Sounds like you have a mismatch. To resolve your situation, you probably need to contact Veeam Sales.

I’d also track down exactly what the licensing was and why it was in their name.
Were you ever licensed or did they just install it using their own serial #'s and then charge you for it?
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been hired to come in and clean up the crap some mom&pop shops and MSP’s have pulled on customers regarding licensing. (I made a lot of money too!)

We were definitely licensed. I’ve been watching the availability countdown unfortunately.

How can that be if it’s in someone else’s name?

3 year support contract under their name instead of ours. Said they did it for pricing. Now it’s an issue. I had no idea.

That’s not the way to do it and most vendors forbid doing this. Everything should be in your name. If they are a reseller, they get a discount when buying direct or through a distributor and they mark up the product as they see fit. I generally mark up things I sell to match what it would cost my customer to purchase direct. They pay the same and I make a little money. Licenses and contracts are always in the customer’s name.
Maybe explaining the situation to Veeam might help.

Thanks. We should not have to buy the program all over again. That’s insane.

The shade is on the MSP, not Veeam.

Problem is it’s very likely you didn’t buy the program in the first place.

Finally got help from Veeam. They gave me a temp license for 30 days. Also, I had to upgrade the actual program. Updates would not run because the software version needed an upgrade. Once that was done the backups ran successfully. Thanks to all for your input.
