I have a Veeam B&R install v 8.0.0.917 currently running Enterprise Plus Edition. I have it connected to one Hyper-V 2008 R2 cluster.

I’m doing some preliminary testing before rolling out in my enterprise.

I added a Hyper-V VM to the backup and took a couple of backups yesterday. Then I tried the Instant VM Recovery feature. It worked really well. I chose to restore to the original location. The process took a couple of minutes then allowed me to bring it up in the sandbox, which I did. Then I chose to finalize the restore, to which a percentage counter kicked off and took a bit but did finally complete.

The problem now is there is a warning in the Restore Session Log indicating “Cannot register VM in the cluster because VM is running”. I turned off the VM but it’s still not showing in the Hyper-V cluster where it was originally. How do I get it back like it should be?

I realize this is a newbie question and I am new to Veeam but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried to register the VM manually ?

What I had to do was actually add the VM back into the cluster. It was in the Hyper-V Manager for the corresponding host, but just not the failover cluster itself. I shut off the VM, imported it into the cluster, and turn the VM back on. Problem solved. Thanks!
