New Install of VBR 12.2 on new VMware windows 2022 server
Is it best to install VBR on one server and Veeam One on another or is it okay to install them both on same one?
If on the same one which one do I install first V1 or VBR?
Also when setting up backups how do I know when to use Application aware processing is this only for DB?
What about Guest file system indexing?
Lastly when you open VBR is there away to speed that up sometime is takes a little bit maybe a min or so?
Also do you backup the veeam server to the same backup device?
Veeam recommends putting this on another drive do I caonned a 500gb ssd via usb point it there or create another network drive just for it?
Do I put it on the vmware datastore or nas?

You can install them on the same server without issue (Veeam One and B&R)
I don’t think order will matter, but I have always done B&R first simply because I use it the most
No I am not aware of anyway to speed up the loading of the Veeam B&R Console.

If you are new to Veeam, typically you install VeeamOne and have it review your environment. It has a report that will give you an overview. If this is just a new install, order probably isn’t important, but I still do VeeamOne first. With that said, I have always had both on my server.
The speed issue will be relative to your environment.

Will the reporting and importing of VeeamONE data impact your backups or restores - only you know that.
Small environment, likely not.
Larger business where you will use Veeam proxies or V1 running many reports - best to separate it out.
Within VeeamBR there is a security advisor at the top of the console - use that as a guide to harden your setup and follow it for best practise advice.

Maybe another hint or additional information.
I have usually another disk atttached to it - if it is a vm where I put the ‘cache’ and save the configuration backups (that is also recommended to be not on the backup-server itself according to best practices)
There is a best practice guide from veeam.
And the in-built ‘checker’ (can’t recall where to find it - at the moment not connected to any backup server)

I agree, I don’t think the install order matters for a new install. However, I will note that for upgrades in the future, Veeam recommends upgrading Veeam ONE before B&R. (Veeam doc )
I will also mention that while installing Veeam ONE and B&R on the same server is supported, and very common with smaller environments, Rick Vanover (Veeam VP of Product Strategy) has suggested that if you have them installed on separate servers with separate credentials, then if one of the servers gets compromised the other one isn’t compromised at the same time (i.e. if someone compromises your B&R server they can’t go disable all your Veeam ONE notifications).

application aware:
Rule of thumb - do you have server applications that use an sql express or full.
There is a database (most cases)
linux, my sql etc. is different
For example, some CAD programs have an sql db in the background.
If you have application servers with dbs - that is meant with the awareness
(like truncating sql logs, etc.)
If you haven’t looked into doing a maintenance plan yourself or how that database setup is.
You can also have it split:
1 server for applications
1 Server for databases (and then I would think you are dealing with SQL instances - since you need an instance for each application that requires a database)
However, I guess you can at least for a start just skip for the applications awareness and just get it setup.
Since you are creating a snapshot anyway, which on a daily basis keeps you covered with a 24 hrs backup (edit again: plus the increments)
Later you can look into application awareness. Since that means you need to know which user with which permission / password accesses which instance .
I believe everything else regarding maintenance plans on sql servers etc. goes beyond the topic that you were asking for. And I do not want to add confusion.
