Morning all

I’ve got a spanking new pc, installed server 08 r2 on it, then going through the installs on vcenter installer. The last install (vcenter server) I am having difficulty with, as it stops with interruptions.

I’ve tried starting the service (log below this one), but it complains it is being refused, I’ve checked the sql config and it’s allowing external connections. I’ve been trying to sort this out for two days, looked at many pages via google and have gone boggle eyed.

Can anyone help?

those are errors stating that whatever server your connecting to is refusing the conenctions.

SSO = Single Sign On. Something is up with your account/password/vcenter permissions.

Thanks Gary, it’s weird, I’ve wiped the system twice now and copied/pasted all the passwords in

Windows firewall?

Why not use the VCenter Appliance? VMware vCenter Server Virtual Appliance (vCSA) features and benefits – VMwire

I’ve got it on a pc with some backup software I’m trying, I think I might have solved the issue, I’ve made the system password shorter

It’s working. Reduced the password to 12 characters instead of 14, and all is fine. Weird.

Not sure which version you are installing but there is/was a known issue with using certain characters in the administrator password. Here is the article.

Thanks Caur

Quite ironic VMware want you to use a symbol as part of the password
