Hi All,

My apologies if this is the wrong place for this. Long story short: I work for a campus store who has been on Netsuite ERP for almost 4 years and has faced nothing but problems.

My question is this: Does anyone here have any recommendations for a campus store that sells regular merchandise and textbooks similar to Netsuite? An ERP, or something for inventory, accounting etc…then we can figure out a POS and web hosting solution. Thanks!

Two questions:

  1. Do you want to host it on-prem or is cloud acceptable?
  2. Do you want a fully develop solution or do you want to “venture” through open-source solutions?

Cloud is acceptable, and we want to use existing platforms.

Well, I propose you two options you “should” look at:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 - If you are using the MS stack of applications, this offers integration with those.

    • Overview (Lisa Crosbie has a ton of content on it) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlPyFmq3edw

    • Extensive 3rd party integrations

    • “Cheap” for base product and gets quite expensive for advanced functionalities.

  • Acumatica - Just started working with this ERP (under multiple medium manufacturing sites, with multiple components, parts, …) and it’s quite good

  • Has more flexibility to insert your “code” to adapt the tool to your environment (not mandatory but most companies always “tailor” their ERP solution to fulfill specific needs)

  • Overview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwhHaydnyIo

  • “Cheaper” than MS Dynamic 365 as they charged upon resources used, such as the number of users and required modules ( financial management, distribution, manufacturing, project accounting, customer management, and more. ).

Both UIs look quite modern (consider the previous one I was in touch was FourthShift over IE web browser unable to read mouse inputs…) and scalability is great ion both options.

Now, not to tell you what to do but, I’d advise scheduling a demo session with both vendors (or any other vendors really) and any other stakeholders, to get a feeling for these and see what fits best your needs. Good luck.
