I hoping you guys might have some good suggestions on web cams for a scenario one of my clients wants me to setup.

They are medical supply store and they just opened a second location. Right now the 2 people that work at the new store come to HQ for the weekly meeting and then have to drive back to the new location to open by 10 which tends to be a little difficult and annoying.

What I’m looking for is a recommendation for a webcam I can place above that TV that has a wide enough viewing angle to pick up the roughly 15 people in the conference room for the meetings and have a good enough mic to pickup the conversations. I’m also not so concerned about he mic because we can just use speaker phone on the phones to achieve voice.

I’m not so worried about the web cam for the other store since it will just be 2 people huddled around a monitor. Thank you.

what service are you using for these conferences? That will make the difference in what is recommended.

We will be using Skype.

do you have a budget to be mindful of?

Hopefully around 100-120 for the 2 since they will only be used for an hour a week.

for that budget you are going to be hard pressed to find anything that will work in a full conference room to capture that many people and still be able to see who they are. You can try the one below but I doubt it will work very well.

That’s the one I was thinking of getting. Thanks for the input I will let you know how it turns out.

this is the one we just put into our conference room that has 14 chairs but is way out of your price range: Amazon.com

however you could also try this one as well Amazon.com

Logitech C920 is a very good choice. I recently purchased one just for the reason you list. The C920 has a threaded tripod mount built right in. Cheap and works well with Skype. I consider it a great buy.

Thanks for all the Logitech love here guys! Super appreciated

Brandon – As your fellow SpiceHeads have said, with your budget it’s going to be a little tough for you to get a cam that is fully optimized for the amount of people you’ll have on the video conferences. However, there are certainly options within the Logitech family that will meet your budget and fit the need of being compatible with Skype. As others have mentioned, the C920 could be a good fit here but you also may want to look into the C930e which is just a couple dollars over the price point you mentioned. You can take a look at all of our webcam options here .

If you decide that you do want to look into more advanced conference room options, if your budget allows, definitely check out the CC3000e as David mentioned above. Before you mentioned your budget for this current project, I was going to hop in with the recommendation since it fits your requirements perfectly! Of course, completely understand that you’re budget-constraint right now so definitely check out the Logitech webcams and let me know if I can answer any questions! Hope this info helps you out

I agree with all the Logitech love. For the same price, Logitechs have much better image quality than competitors like Microsoft, Creative, etc. If you can afford the Logitech ConferenceCam BCC950, I’d get that.
