Face it, most of us have received swag items that we look at and think “Well that will sit in a drawer forever”. I have been working on a new fence and with all the construction work done comes the mind numbingly tedious job of staining it. So I pull out my HPE bluetooth speaker so I have some tunes, well the 1.5 hour battery life does not come close to the task and then Eaton saves the day with the portable power bank I received awhile back. Both items I never expected to be useful were. Thanks HPE and Eaton for making my weekend more tolerable. Oh and I drank my beer right out of the bottle so my Spiceworks beer glass remains unchristened.

Anyone else have tales of Swag saving the day?

I used my lockpick set I got from @nic-automox to break into my neighbor’s house and steal his toilet paper!

Oh dim, what are we going to do with you. LOL

The trick is to just know what drawer you put it in for when that time comes. Glad it came in handy!

I had swag once till my ex recycled it all. Now I’m swagless :pensive:. Desperately in need of new Spiceworks T’s as I gained weight :smirk:

OMG me too! Also, the locks on toilet paper holders in public restrooms are pretty easy to pick. You can walk out with one of those giant rolls.

currently wearing Spiceworld shirts to work from home.

gave a user a usb hub I got from some vendor to use with the mess of stuff they needed.

I used to use my cell phone stand daily at the office. I did not bring it home with me.

Have often used a powerbank on the road.

I need to get one of those lock pic sets…

I’ve used the Eaton powerbank a few times as well. Webroot mini flashlight/lantern is great when I take my telescope out to a dark site. Carbonite/Webroot apron is great when grilling.

In all the years I have been on Spiceworks, I have one small pepper shaped squeeze thingy that I got at a meeting! I need more and better stuff!!!

I’ve got this neato orange SpiceWorks squeezable ball. As I speak to users about various things. I often take the time to squeeze this ball. Many times. HARD. Sometimes the users remark on how they wish they could have such a ball in order to exercise the muscles in their hands as well. I always agree.

<Edit: Eaton sent me their little green robot squeezable dude, but I just don’t have the heart to take it out on…I mean, EXERCISE… on him!>

I have various pieces of swag but could always use more.

I always seem to get XL Men’s tshirts. The hubby confiscates for work shirts. Occasionally he comes home asking for an explanation. I think the best was splunk - take the SH out of IT.

That’s great!

I’m changing all my locks to digital now…

Just makes them easier to break!

If you ever want to feel really bad about your physical security, then watch this guy:

then go replace all your locks with Medeco.

Thought about sending that one earlier! The guy is really good.

Honestly, those sound like two of the most useful swag items I’ve heard of! I’m still rocking a Scale shot glass I got from SpiceWorld a few years ago.

Uhm, i do think the giant rolls are the towels, the TP is regular sized and should look like the one at home…now i’m anxious to use a public restroom after you visited it

To be fair, aside of the “wiggle it a bit” or the “stick the antenna of a lego radio in to open it because it’s THAT bad” attacks he has a controlled environment, perfect angles and a lot of skill. The biggest issue with lockpicking is that you won’t notice the entry, aside of that it’s really not any less secure than glass windows.
