This next sentence should perk up the ears of the Spiceworks Purchasing Partners. I would almost solely use this purchasing tool if I could get 3 quotes on the items that I’m requesting. I know there are 5 vendors on the list but I typically only get 1 or 2 on a rare occasion even when looking for relatively normal IT purchases (switches, UPSs, etc.). As a network administrator for a county government I am required to get 3 quotes on all purchases and that is very time consuming so if I were able to come here and get 3 quotes on most items it would be a one stop source for most of my purchases, but when I am only getting 1 or 2 quotes then I end up never making any purchases from it. I would love to see this change.

Add your own vendors, and tell them that you’ll only give them business if they use Spiceworks.

You’ll be amazed how quickly you start getting responses then.

We had the same issue. Some of our vendors are either very slow to respond to the online tool or just refuse to use it (dell). I started adding myself as the first vendor on all quotes and if I need a third or get a third that is not via the system I enter it in manually.

It’s true.

I triple quote everything no matter what, all of my vendors know this, and my vendors know if they don’t use the system they don’t get the sale.
