I may have old-school thinking, but I enjoyed working on Windows XP SP2. Support was easy. Often times fixes were available for download.
So, which OS was or is the one you enjoyed working on the most as an IT professional?

I enjoyed Windows 2000 Pro. First Windows OS to be widely supoorted in a business environment. W2K solved every random BSOD, and “I’m not shutting down properly today” issues that Win 95 and 98 had and Microsoft could never solve.

I loved DOS. Windows 3.11 for workgroups was pretty good, but Windows 7 remains the best Windows of all, IMHO.

Yes VAX/VMS gets my vote too, though I did enjoy working with RSTS/E and RSX-11 on the PDP-11 before that.

NT 4.0, no plug n play or USB support. Prevented users from doing a lot.

NT 4.0 was the GOAT.
Agreed, prevented people from screwing up their computers pretty well.
Worst ever? Windows ME, Win 98 (not to be confused with 95SE) was also a dog.

When I started my career Win7 was the standard, so I still hold that as my favorite for management. Simple, easy, and did what it was supposed to do.

Enjoy Managing, none. Best to manage, all of them. I have been using PCs since the early dos days (lets say 2.0?). My career in IT started when XP was mainstream so I’ll say that formatting a system back to XP, 7, 10, and 11 is very easy to “Manage”. Well we did have some Win2k3 servers when I started. Those were dog

Windows ME life span was short lived, and many people didn’t notice it was gone.

Win XP when i started out, still found it so easy to manage. Win7 was also brilliant. Had a hatred for Win2000, not in business use as it was quite able to do the job but when a home user decided to use it.

I suppose maybe I’m the odd one, but I’ve been most fond of managing Windows 10/11 (I see them as being so similar that there’s barely a distinguishable difference). I personally feel like Windows has gotten easier/better to manage over time, really starting with Windows 8.

I agree, Windows XP was a fun OS to work and play on. It was easy to use for most of the work force.
