Hi,

We have Azure AD Connect working and syncing our users from our on prem AD to AAD, seems to be working well.

Now I’m trying to test out desktop computer management with Intune but can’t seem to figure out how to get our computers, which are joined our on prem AD, to show up in AAD or Intune? These are Windows 10 Pro desktops, up to date with Windows updates and patches.

Shouldn’t this just work? We did no special filtering or anything during the setup of AD Connect and we are not running in hybrid mode.

Do I need to manually add the computers to AAD and if so, how do I sync them with the local AD objects? Or, what am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Ok, got it working. I stumbled across this re-viewing a training video from Udemy. Module on setting up Azure Active Directory Connect and completing the configuration and they threw up some bullet points, one of them says this:

“To sync your Windows 10 domain joined computers to Azure AD as registered devices, you need to run Initialize-ADSyncDomainJoinedComputerSync in the script module ADSyncPrep”

Once I figured out how to run this commandlet everything started syncing from my on prem AD to Azure AD and now I can configure them in Intune.

Whew!

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

So the last time i did this, you either have your device in Azure AD and link it with Intune, or you have your devices in your local AD.

This may have changed, but i dont think you can have them in your local AD and manage them in Intune.

You can get devices registered / joined with Azure AD to automatically enroll with intune you do this by logging into Azure, Intune - Device Enrollment - Windows Enrollment - Automatic Enrollment, then specifying the scope of who should be enrolled, members of a group or everyone.

To join a device to Azure AD you can do this when going through the OOBE or open your settings - accounts - access work or school - connect.

{"@type":"Person
t800stomper
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/t800stomper"}}]}}
