I have a workstation that I built and whenever I go into Device Manager I get the following error

Hi,

What does the log say in Event Viewer? Is the workstation within a domain?

If you go to File Explorer > right click on This PC > and choose Manage. Does it still happend?

If not, try this. Open Command Prompt as admin, and type the following:

devmgmt.msc
or
mmc devmgmt.msc

Do you get access then? :slight_smile:

  1. Can’t open Event Viewer, get the same error.

  2. The computer is not on a domain, and yes I get the same error when I right click and got to “Manage”

  3. Can get into Device Manager via Command Prompt

Does this only happen with the one user account?

Might be an issue with the profile, if the issue continues with other user profiles then I would say try running a disk check or repair the OS install

I have not checked on my other user account yet.

Try to open a command line and write: sfc /scannow

Logged into my back up Admin account and received the same issue.

Ran the sfc /scannow and got the following
