All the best to everyone for 2025.
So a client has gotten a new PC with Windows 11 and it is insisting that she does the Microsoft Account thing - which she is having none of. She has left it to me to get her up and running but this HP Laptop 15-fd0107dx is not allowing me to do the Shift+F10 or CTL+F10 to bring up the Command Prompt.
Is there another key combination or has MS finally won this battle

Do you have setup for work or school or domain join options? (Avail on Pro)

Alternatively, have you tried not setting up an internet connection and seeing if it gives you a local account option?

None of the usual options for a local account (I suspect this Win 11 Home). Also did the not setting up an internet connection, turnded off wireless signal from AP ad still no joy.

Were you previously connected to the AP? I suspect you have to not have a wireless connection at all. Is there a function key to disable WiFi?

I thought so as well but then I did a Rest This PC with remove everything. So it still only goes as far as forcing internet connection so as to do the MS Account jig.

It looks like this comes with Windows 11 Home in S Mode

The simplest way I found is to add a fake email as your Microsoft account, it will warn you the password is wrong a few times, but after 3-5 tries should give you a local option.

Thanks. The Rufus idea worked. Hope it keeps working for a while as I figure there will be a frequent need for it going forward.

Are the F-keys one the device a slightly different color? I’ve found a lot of new devices set the F-keys to the alternate function since they set things like screen brightness, volume control, etc. to the default keypress since those are used so much more often than the F-keys themselves by the majority of users.

On all our new Dell devices it is like that, so I have to press Shift+fn+F10 to pull up command prompt at the initial OOBE screen to run the OOBE\bypassnro command. I’ve not messed with that particular HP, but I know a number of their newer computers do the same thing those Dells I mentioned do.
