is anyone having constant issues with Windows 7 Updates?

for the past couple months each time Windows rolls out a new batch of updates i have 5-6 computers that:

  1. won’t start up - they just hang on the Welcome screen. typically this issue comes with our users who have laptops. i instruct user to hold power button in to shut down, unplug all peripherals, power back up, and it’s good to go.

  2. windows recovery wants to fix the computer

  3. updates will never finish installing and/or configuring

just seems very odd. i would chalk it up to a Windows operating system issue if it was the same group of users that have an issue each time, but it seems to always be a different group of people.

this morning 3 people have had issue number one and 1 person issue number three…

4 Spice ups

Yep, just worked on this exact issue with my wife’s PC at work. Windows Updates are acting janky. I imagine this is them trying to force us to move to windows 10.

I’d sooner move to Linux at home than Windows 10, thanks.

Windows 10 is OK been on it for 4 weeks and theres some good stuff in it, plenty of rougher edges on it that need sorting esp with non-MS VPNs, but overall no worse than 7 imho

But yes the QA of the updates is pretty rubbish over the last 18-20months or so…

I had this issue last month. I installed WSUS on a server and started testing most of the updates out before sending them to everyone. However I didn’t think that an IE security update (3139929) would act like it did. So that one slipped by me. DAMN YOU MICROSOOOOOFT!

M$ says that windows 10 is da bomb. and to prove it we are going to make sure our “old” product - gets bad patches.

not happy either. and now M$ is being more forceful pushing out windows 10

windows 10 is - OK, but i dont like the extra crap, and after it is removed, if another update is pushed out that they consider is “major” it all gets added back again

not impressed with their arrogance at all. meh
