I’ve installed spiceworks 1.6 some time ago and worked fine with most of the machines (about 25 leaving just one PC and one Macintosh out of the inventory).
I’ve updated to version 1.7 while changing and increasing the number of PCs. Now I have 35. None of the new ones is being recognized by Spiceworks.
I’ve been trying with my own one. Obviously I’ve checked that the sysadmin has rights here.
- I’v e added access in WMI
- I’ve executed netsh firewall set service REMOTEADMIN enable
- I’ve deactivated the firewall. Anyway I…
- Opened TCP ports 135, 139 and 445, and UDP ports 137 and 138 with file & printer sharing & remote administration
No luck at all. I’m ready to quit. Could someone help?

Are you in a workgroup or domain environment?
I’m presuming you can ping the machine from the Spiceworks computer. Is this correct?
What results do you get when you run
wmic /user:username /password:yourpassword /node:remotemachine systemenclosure get serialnumber
remotely from the Spiceworks machine against the “new” machines?
If you’re on a domain, have you tried adding the "domain" leader to the scan credentials? So you would have “domain\administrator” as the scan user rather than just “administrator”.
