Ok, I am currently trying this product and running this in a test enviroment. Here is my simple test inviroment:<\/p>\n
Server 2008 R2 SP1 - 192.168.1.1<\/p>\n
Windows 7 Professional - 192.168.1.50<\/p>\n
Here is what I have done so far:<\/p>\n
Local users and groups>groups>administrator → ADministrator,domain admins<\/p>\n
Added exceptions to firewall (GPMC) : (and yes I did a gpupdate /force and check in rsop.msc to see if they were applyed)<\/p>\n
ICMPv4 (to allow ping)<\/p>\n
CC>Policies>Admin Temp>Network>NC>Win Firewall>Domain Profile - Allow inbound remote administrative exception<\/p>\n
CC>Policies>Admin Temp>Network>NC>Win Firewall>Standard Profile - Allow inbound remote administrative exception<\/p>\n
CC>Policies>Windows Settings> Sec Settings > Win Firewall > Win Firewall > Inbound Rules:<\/p>\n
TCP: 445,1037,441,135<\/p>\n
On the Windows 7 machine:<\/p>\n
Disabled UAC<\/p>\n
Advanced firewall:<\/p>\n
File and printer sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In) Domain, Private and Public (Enabled)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Tried disabling the firewall completely. (no luck)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
DCOM is enabled and running<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
On the 2008 Server:<\/p>\n
Start->wmimgmt.msc-> connection to remote computer (TESTCOMPUTER)-> right click; properties: Success:<\/p>\n
Successfully Connected to: \\testcomputer<\/p>\n
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T Processor<\/p>\n
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional<\/p>\n
OS Version: 6.1.7601<\/p>\n

however in Spiceworks after scan: Timeout waiting for WMI connection<\/p>\n

Spiceworks scans using a username and password.<\/p>\n
Check and make sure you are using the same admin username and password in spiceworks that your windows 7 computer has an account for.<\/p>\n
Also, try WMI asset logger from the server to the Win7 box.<\/p>\n
This will show you if the issue is username and password or an issue on the Win 7 machine.<\/p>\n
