I know this has been an issue for years. I have a PC that is getting a dhcp address. Everything looks normal in AD and DNS but spiceworks has an old ip address for the device.

I can even send WOL and ping the PC (which responds with the correct ip address) from the device inventory page. Why can’t Spiceworks figure out that the IP address has changed?

Can someone PLEASE give me some direction on how to fix this?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Apparently, there is a problem with scanning. If the last scan date did not change to the current date value, then it was not able to scan or the scan could not complete. I would create a support ticket so Spiceworks can take a look at your logs.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

I would go to the Pc in question, click complete profile, then delete. On the next scan, it should have the proper ip.

Or, go to inventory>settings>network scan and input the correct ip address in the ip range. Then go to inventory>scan>drop down menu>pick the ip address and press scan. It should now scan and replace the old ip.

{"@type":"Person
oscarlramos5642
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/oscarlramos5642"}},{"@type":"Answer

Thank you for the reply.

I don’t really want to delete the device and lose all the history plus have to reenter information. Since this isn’t the only device I have this trouble with we are talking a lot of work.

I did try re-scanning just the ‘correct’ ip address. It seemed to scan, but did not change the IP address.

It seems like Spiceworks uses the IP address of a device as the primary identifier. This seems crazy.

{"@type":"Person
jim9696
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jim9696"}}]}}
