Well, it seems I am having another problem after upgrading to SW 7.

We recently replaced a file server. The name of the original file server was FS01. The new server was temporarily named FS02 while it was being built. Once all the data was migrated to the new server, the old server was renamed to FS01OLD and the new server was named FS01. This worked great except that Spiceworks for whatever reason decided to drop all notes, history, and documents for the original files server. I cannot find them anywhere. I tried looking at entries for all of the involved PC names and I also tried just searching for the Serial Number/ Service Tag of the original file server. Has anyone else seen this happen?

3 Spice ups

Have not see that, no. Do you have backups to fall back to if necessary?

I do have backups for the last 90 days. Using them would be a last reset though as it would cause me to lose all changes and updates since the time the backup was created. I guess my worst case would be to setup SW on another machine, restore a backup into it, retrieve the data and then manually enter it in the current system. But oh what a pain…

I had to restore my data from about a month ago to get two machines back. I found a second machine that was just gone from Spiceworks and this machine had no mix up with the names. It just no longer existed. So I have them back now. The scanning is a complete disaster in version 7. Version 7 is suddenly unable to connect to about one third of the machines on our network after the upgrade using existing and previously working credentials. And it is creating duplicates as well. That is bad enough. But deleting machines from inventory… I find that I am starting to have a lot of trouble trusting Spiceworks at this point. The software should NEVER delete machine history unless I tell it to do so. I have been using SW for a long time and have never had these kinds of issues.
