Is there a way to do this? I can’t find anything online. We have users that use Chromebooks to access certain resources, and they all use the same Google acct. This was a fine system but now we’ve changed some things, and now a user can easily uninstall a certain key app accidentally - and it deletes it for ALL users.

So is there a way to lock down this account from being able to delete apps? There has to be a way, right?

Thanks in advance

Do you have those devices managed? Its a one time fee and it works great. You can force install apps and there is nothing they can do to remove it expect use a non managed account.

I would add to this having one account per user. Shared accounts can “save money” at the start but they’re rarely a good idea, especially long term.

You’ll need Chrome Enterprise Management licenses to accomplish what you want. They have perpetual and annual licensing options (licensed per device). With Enterprise Management, you can control nearly any aspect of a ChromeOS device.

spring $30 per unit (one time charge) and buy the google management console. You have total control over everything that way.

Thanks guys. Shame to have to buy into that just for one little bit of needed functionality, but c’est la vie…

You’re selling the solution the wrong way to yourself before you even try to get the powers-that-be on board. You’re not spending $120 to manage “one small function”. You’re spending $120 to save the organization several hundred dollars in lost productivity and downtime this solution will prevent and adding functionality you may need in the future as additional staff or new software are brought into the environment.
