DJI Mimo app update brings wired downloads, iPhone dual‑lens tracking

DJI has dropped a hefty update to its Mimo app. Version 2.2.12 of the DJI Mimo app brings a raft of exciting enhancements for handheld creators and mobile cinematographers. The refreshed app sharpens the user experience across Osmo Pocket, Osmo Action, Osmo Mobile products, and even custom text dashboards and advanced tracking features on modern iPhones.

Wired file downloads for Osmo cameras

For the first time, you can connect your Osmo gimbal cameras, such as the Pocket 3, and Osmo action cameras, such as the Action 5 Pro, to your smartphone via wired USB, instead of Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth. That means steadier, faster media transfers and less frustration when editing on‑the‑go. DJI promotes this as “a more stable and smoother creative journey for file download and editing”. Expect less lag, fewer dropped frames, and a better workflow, especially for field environments.

Artistic dashboard customization

Mimo now offers six new theme styles for camera dashboards, so you can match your UI with your video’s look and feel in just one tap. Want bold and high‑contrast? Minimal and cinematic? It’s all right there. This instantly tweakable interface builds on Mimo’s pro‑color grading tools and presets already beloved by creators.

DJI has also added custom text overlays — perfect for labeling check‑in locations, emphasizing event names, or adding real‑time stats. Whether you’re filming a travel vlog or recording finish‑line moments in a marathon, in‑app text tags add context without needing external software.

Dual‑lens boost for OM 7 iPhone users

Owners of an iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max or higher using Osmo Mobile 7 gimbals will now benefit from Mimo’s new “Dual‑Lens Boost” tracking feature. By intelligently using both the wide and telephoto lenses, it more reliably follows distant subjects or fast‑moving action — a win for sports shooters, wildlife videographers, and quick POV clips.

Further, the DJI Mimo app v2.2.12 recalibrates scroll‑wheel sensitivity on Osmo Mobile 7P, delivering crisper, more tactile operation. It’s no longer a linear slider — it responds to your intent. Plus, new button mapping lets you quick‑press the shutter to enter FPV mode, or hold the toggle to launch album playback — great for fast setup or quick review while shooting.

All in all, DJI appears to be leaning hard into creator empowerment, harnessing mobile app software to compensate for limitations in hardware. With this update, you now get smarter tools inside Mimo, like theme matching, real‑time text annotation, and better tracking.
