MagSafe wallets are a great alternative to traditional wallets, especially if you prefer to travel light with just a couple of cards and little to no cash. I personally love the convenience – they let me leave my regular wallet behind and carry one less item every time I step out. Having said that, I’m yet to find the one that checks all the right boxes for me. Most MagSafe wallets I’ve tried either don’t have enough space and barely fit one or two cards, or they don’t feel sturdy enough to keep my cards securely in place. The one we’re checking out here from SUPCASE seem to get a lot of things right while also adding some notable extras. Let’s dive in and see what it’s like to use one of these every day.

9to5Toys Take:
If you’re not familiar, SUPCASE is known for its rugged, heavy-duty protective gear for phones, tablets, and other accessories. Their products are built for durability and all-around protection, and they may not appeal to you if you prefer slimmer, more minimalist designs. The MagSafe wallet highlighted here offers somewhat of a similar design and rugged build, leaning more towards the bulkier side. I personally don’t mind using bulky cases and accessories as long as they’re well-built, have a good design, and work as advertised to keep my gear protected, so I wasn’t particularly against the idea of daily-driving this thing.
This wallet, as you can tell, has an industrial design with lots of different elements and pieces put together. The wallet itself is made out of polycarbonate, but it has a metal cover to keep your cards locked in place and to double as a kickstand. It also folds out to hold your phone up at a height, similar to a small tripod. It’s got strong magnets to strongly stick to the back of your phone, and the overall unit feels quite sturdy for every day use. It’s one of those accessories that feels like it can handle rugged use without giving up.
I don’t feel a significant difference in thickness coming from ESR’s MagSafe wallet, but this SUPCASE model definitely has more weight to it, mainly because of that metal cover. It’s not a deal-breaker for me since I only attach it to my phone when I’m heading out – and even then, I usually carry my phone in hand rather than slipping it into my pocket. That being said, I see how many would consider this almost too bulky to be able to use every day.
This particular wallet can easily hold five cards as advertised, but it comes with an RFID blocking card which also takes up one of those spots. There’s a cutout at the bottom that lets you push the cards upwards and pull them out of the wallet, and the metal cover locks in place to ensure the cards are not going anywhere.
The added bonus here is being able to use this as a stand to prop up your phone for a hands-free viewing experience. It even folds out to extend the height at which it holds your phone, making it function almost like a mini tripod stand that you can use for, say, FaceTime calls.
The only thing I would’ve liked to see is built-in Apple Find My action so I can keep tabs on my wallet even when it’s not attached to my phone. SUPCASE has a separate variant of this wallet (showcased below) that comes with space to add an AirTag. You can snag that one for $39.99 shipped right now, down from its usual price of $50, but keep in mind that it’ll add that extra thickness and weight to your wallet. Not to mention, you’ll also need to shell out for the AirTag separately. You can skip this one and simply go for something like UGREEN’s SlimTrack wallet tracker instead if you have space to spare for an additional tracking card, but it’s nice to have an optional unit for folks who want to put their AirTag to a good use.
Let’s be honest – there’s no shortage of MagSafe wallets on the market and you’ll definitely find relatively slimmer alternatives. This SUPCASE MagSafe wallet, however, is purpose built for folks who are on the lookout for something rugged to match their rugged case and active lifestyle. Many would even appreciate being able to securely store as many as five cards, while also using it as a tripod stand. This is definitely a good option to consider if you appreciate sturdy and rugged accessories, and are after a versatile wallet that can keep your cards safe and secure.
