Systems in remote locations over vpn

Hello, I’m new to Spiceworks and must say i like it so far. I seems to be having trouble scanning systems in a remote office that is connected by VPN… is this something that I will not be able to do with Spiceworks?

Naw, I do this and it works very well.

Make sure you have your remote IP addresses in the scan. Make sure that your SpiceWorks machine has the proper path and that the ports it needs are allowed to pass over the VPN (firewall setting). After that, it’s just like being on the same network so you need to ensure the logon you are using has the proper permissions, no software firewall is blocking you, the proper services are running, etc…

VPN should work exactly the same as your local office subnets.

However, for performance reasons, consider the new remote collector to make collecting data from remote locations even easier.
